Apple’s new App Store policies target China’s online tipping economy  

This past week the hardware giant unveiled two new policies that appear directed largely at WeChat, China’s most popular chat app, where peer-to-peer payments, or “tips,” are transferred every day. The rules suggest that Apple’s relationship with Tencent, WeChat’s owner, could grow more tense. And that could ultimately affect the company’s broader fate in China.

Our thoughts: The number of credit cards Apple has on file between iTunes and Apple Pay is staggering.

SiriusXM is buying a big stake in Pandora for $480 million


The investment ends months-long speculation that SiriusXM would buy Pandora outright. It’s not clear why plans changed, but SiriusXM says the cash injection “will allow Pandora to make targeted investments” — though it doesn’t elaborate on what those might involve.

Our thoughts: Two giants from a decade ago are teaming up to stay relevant.

There's a major focus on the iPad in iOS 11, with Apple introducing a huge range of iPad-specific features that offer a much improved multitasking experience, allowing the iPad to better serve as a full PC replacement. Many of the features included in iOS 11 have topped the wish lists of iPad owners for years, including Drag and Drop, the Files app, the persistent dock, and more.

Our thoughts: iOS 11 looks like a great release for iPad owners.
