Apple Plans to Release a Cellular-Capable Watch to Break iPhone Ties  

Currently, Apple requires its smartwatch to be connected wirelessly to an iPhone to stream music, download directions in maps, and send messages while on the go. Equipped with LTE chips, at least some new Apple Watch models, planned for release by the end of the year, will be able to conduct many tasks without an iPhone in range, the people said. For example, a user would be able to download new songs and use apps and leave their smartphone at home.

Our thoughts: Adding LTE will be a great feature as long as the battery life doesn't suffer.

WannaCry hero accused of creating Russian banking virus

The security researcher who shut down the rampant spread of the WannaCry ransomware in May was arrested Wednesday for allegedly creating a virus of his own.

Our thoughts: This situation almost sounds like the beginning (or end) of a great movie.

Even with all our gadgets, Americans are using less electricity than 10 years ago

Everything from our heating systems to our toothbrushes are plugged in and connected to internet, and smartphones are glued to the palms of our hands. Yet, Americans are using less electricity than we did 10 years ago.
